Held in Birmingham’s NEC on the 25th and 26th of November was the UK’s largest dedicated Continuing Professional Development education and trade event, The Occupational Therapy Show. The two day event welcomed thousands of Occupational Therapists (OT’s) from up and down the country, who specialise in a wide range of different fields, to come together and champion an important part of the healthcare profession.
The huge one floor venue was awash with over 100 practical workshops, seminars and interactive lectures and a comprehensive 60 hours of CPD education. Within these talks there were world renowned speakers including Professor Gaynor Sadlo, Sidney Chu, Claire Craig and Michael Mandelstam. In addition, we also had the chance to research and test new products and services from 275 different trade exhibitor and suppliers.
We are proud to say that we were among the 275 exhibitors at the OT show and with our very own Occupational Therapist too. Julie Jennings, HSL’s OT approved representative, ensures that our products stand the test of time and are thoroughly evaluated by herself and her team. We were the lease holders of stand 35 for both days and received a great amount of attraction!
To help set up the event, was the combined effort and teamwork of Mick Butters and Laura McBride who made sure that all the information was displayed correctly. They also ensured that there was a good level of brand awareness where all products were displayed prominently. Also attending the event was Kim from Litchfield, Liz from Dewsbury, Jade HSL’s regional manager for the East and Julie Jennings our occupational therapist. They were all on hand to give advice where possible!
The recipe of the day to attract the swarms of people were a digital display board, a pick ‘n’ mix stand and a goody bag filled with our swatch cards, mini catalogue, flyers and of course a tape measure!
Aside from our fun giveaways, the main cause of footfall was due to the range of products and services we offered. We had four different sizes of the Waltham, a leather Linton, a Bariatric Wetherby, a Helmsley two seater sofa and a Surrey bed! All of which we were able to demonstrate the rising and reclining process, ensuring people get from a standing to sitting position with ease.
When the stand got further attraction throughout the day we were able to educate OT specialists and passersby to the value of our products for those suffering with different ailments. We were able to advise them on the how we can provide the ultimate back care solutions for those looking or indeed needing comfort. We even got attraction from other stall holders!
Also on display was information about our ever expanding store network, Home Consultation Service and our extensive product range. After an emergency order for more catalogues on day two, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we were immensely popular at the OT show and we only hope we are able to replicate this in 2016!
