These past couple months have been a time of extraordinary circumstances – something that most people have never seen in their lifetime, and are likely not to see again. It has been a time of uncertainty, fear and worry.
However, there have also been some moments of pure goodness. There are endless numbers of people out there doing wonderful acts. People who are trying to bring happiness to an uncertain world. These moments are what can help carry us through the darker days.
Here at HSL, we wanted to do our part in helping spread a little sunshine. These are just some of the ways:
Helping our heroes
We’re so proud to support our amazing NHS and healthcare heroes by making scrubs. Our Manufacturing Director, Kevin, and his team of amazing volunteers have been hard at work cutting and sewing vital PPE for Yorkshire Scrubs.
Whilst our stores and factory remain temporarily closed, we’re delighted to be able to use our facilities to help the people who are helping our country get through this very difficult time.
We know that self-isolating can be a lonely time for many people, especially those who don’t have a network of friends and family to lean on. Here at HSL we really care about our customers, so we wanted to extend that care to anyone who needed it.
We launched a free phone number for anyone who just wanted a chat and a friendly voice. Again, a team of volunteers came together ready to speak to anyone who got in touch.
Coming together throughout social distancing
The news has been filled with terrifying stories and constantly evolving negative voices. We wanted to be an escape from that. So, we decided to focus all our Facebook posts and emails on enjoyable and uplifting posts and content.
Our posts are full of trivia and fun facts, and our emails share tips for gardening, boosting immune system and how to escape reality for a few minutes. Not forgetting our very popular weekly quiz! You can still access all our articles in our Lifestyle section on our website.
Caring for customers
We’ve been working hard to put procedures in place for when we reopen – we’ll ensure that all our services, from a Home Visit, to our 7-Point Seating Assessment, as well as deliveries are all available entirely contactless. We are investing in personal protective equipment (PPE) for our colleagues so that our customers feel completely safe and secure.
Keeping colleagues safe
We’ve also been busy putting multiple procedures in place for our own colleagues; making sure that our own HSL family feels completely at ease when they’re at work. We want the workplace to feel like a safe haven from the outside world. We’ll be taking temperatures, providing multiple sanitiser stations and offering alternative working solutions ensuring that a safe social distance of 2 metres will be possible at all times.
