As you might be aware, at HSL we are championing the hard work that thousands of grandparents put in helping out with the children over the summer months.

In fact, our latest research has shown that some grandparents can put in up to 600 hours in childcare between July and September! Though it can be a tough job, 85% of grandparents look after their grandchildren purely out of love for them and their children, and being a grandparent has even been revealed as offering the ultimate job satisfaction.

As part of our fun campaign to celebrate our amazing grandparents, we’ve teamed up with some of the country’s leading mummy bloggers, asking their children questions about what their grandparents really mean to them? The entries have already started to come in and we wanted to share some of the incredibly cute videos with you. The winning entry will be announced on the blog on Monday.

First up comes Sabina’s children, featured on her blog post on Deep in Mummy Matters. Little Bean and Beanie Boy describe their incredible sounding grandparents and the favourite activities they often do together. Some of their best memories include grandma mending their broken toys, walking the dog together and going on holidays as a family. Take a look at the video in the post.

Next is Rachel’s post on her blog Beauty Alchemy. The girls filmed their video whilst staying at their granddad’s house and the first take didn’t work out quite as planned, however they went on to share their lovely thoughts on their grandparents. Outdoor activities such as walks and trips to the park seem to top the list of fun activities – though perhaps most importantly of all… is that that grandparents do the washing up! ☺ A lovely entry.

Paula’s Mummy Vs Work blog is next up, featuring Kayleigh and Ethan and their thoughts on their grandparents. This video includes the flashcards and two incredibly smiley children explaining just why their grandparents are the greatest. Nanny looking after them when they are poorly, an extremely funny grandad, cake making and amazing breakfasts all come in to play when it comes to the reasons why their grandparents rock!

Dragons and Fairy dust’s Alison’s post reflects on her own grandparents and her memories of growing up. Though her son’s grandparents live in Belfast, he looks forward to their visit for his birthday every year and has lots of great memories of time he has spent with them. As Alison points own – our grandparents can teach us so much and often have lots of time to stop and listen!

Next we are over to The Mummington Post and a very poorly Fizz who, despite being ill all week, still wanted to take time out to talk about her loving grandparents. Being brilliant, fun, sleepy and cool all comes into play when it comes to Fizz’s grandparents – great effort Fizz! Get well soon.

Now over to Laura’s blog Side Street Style and her incredibly cute son ‘Mr A.’ Blackberry picking, crafting, gardening and baking all make the list of activities Mr A gets up to with his grandparents. In a lovely video, he admits to loving his grandparents as much as 16 bears and would love to take them for a healthy picnic followed by ice cream.

We will be announcing the winning blog post next Monday, as well as a lovely video sharing some of children’s special thoughts on their grandparents.

Thanks to all of you who got involved!
