Get the Look: The Return of Regency
Are you ready to travel back in time?
As modern adaptations of Regency-inspired media are becoming more popular, it’s no wonder that this graceful period is influencing our interiors. From Bridgerton, Wuthering Heights, Miss Austen and more, the Georgian period is back and in full bloom, bringing its fashion to the modern era.
The interiors from the Regency period were known for their elegance, refined details and sophistication, with homes designed around intricate architecture and craftsmanship.
Where did it all begin?
The Regency period is named after King George III’s oldest son, George IV, who became the Prince Regent from 1811-1820 during his father’s mental decline. King George IV continued to reign until 1830 and was known for having a lavish and extravagant sense of fashion.
This era was heavily inspired by Greek and Roman antiquity, following architectural symmetry, balanced refinement and elegant detailing. Around this time, Western Europe explored the movement of Romanticism and grandeur, resulting in bold colours and a balance in expression and personality.
How to bring Regency into your home with furniture
Colour
Just like the Featherington’s from Netflix’s Bridgerton, find yourself a signature colour. The Regency colour palette embraced expression, personality and a bold yet refined approach.
Bring drama and depth into your home with jewel tones such as ruby red, sapphire blue or emerald, or find delicacy and calm with soft pastels like celestial blue or blush rose. Earthy tones such as terracotta, olive green and warm browns add a historical richness.
