Posture and Back Care Tips
Back Care Awareness Week is a wonderful opportunity to learn how to look after your back and posture. If you want good posture leaving that hunched back behind or you’d like to relieve back tension and learn how to move without extra stress, here's something for you...
Here are 3 tips to help your posture
1. Move Your Body
Moving around during the day can encourage you to stop hunching, can improve your body’s strength and will stop you from sitting in restrictive positions. Raising your arms above your head and moving your head from side to side is a great way to release tension, you can also try rolling your shoulders and stretching your back.
Bad posture can negatively impact your health by causing pain and tension in your neck, back, and shoulders, this can lead to headaches, fatigue, and reduced flexibility.
2. Turn your Stiffness into Strength
Good posture comes as the result of strong muscles. Simple exercises like Pilates and yoga can be a good way to stretch your body and target specific points of pain. The NHS offers strength exercise suggestions for when the gym or exercise classes aren’t the best solution for you – with sitting exercises, flexibility exercises to balance exercises, so you can use your HSL chair as support.
3. Change your Mindset
Our body language is affected by our mood, hunched shoulders at your desk could be just as much about a deadline as your desk set-up, so it’s important to listen to your body and understand your emotions. Fixing your posture can be started by easing your schedule and finding time to relax.

And remember, sometimes back pain and posture problems can be down to an underlying medical condition, so check-in with your GP if you have any concerns.
If you sit a lot for a long period of time for work or because of a medical condition or your age, the correct chair will help you ease pressure points and pain. Taking up exercise will help you to strengthen important muscles which can have long lasting beneficial effects, including reducing aches and pains.
Celebrate Back Care Awareness Week and raise awareness on how to look after your body.
