Bonfire Toffee Recipe

Enjoy this traditional Bonfire Night treat with our quick and easy recipe, ready in under 20 minutes!
Ingredients
- 125g butter
- 450g soft brown sugar
- 60g black treacle
- 60g golden syrup
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Method
Step 1
If your syrup or treacle comes in a can, place the can in a pan of barely simmering water for a few minutes to make it easier to pour and measure. Be careful when removing the can as it will be hot.
Step 2
Add all your ingredients to a medium-sized pan and bring to the boil, stirring continuously to prevent burning. Reduce to a simmer, then cook for 15 – 20 minutes. To check whether it’s ready, drop a little into a cup of cold water. If it goes brittle, you’re good to go.
Step 3
Pour the mixture into a well-greased tin and leave to cool completely. Once it’s cool and hard to the touch, turn it out onto a chopping board and break with a (clean!) hammer or the handle of a big knife.
Step 4
Put your feet up and enjoy your Bonfire Night sweet treat, perfect to accompany fireworks! If you try this recipe, don’t forget to share a photo with us over on our Facebook page, or email us at marketing@hslchairs.com.
